Unico and its staff are committed to changing our world for the better. As part of our commitment to the community and to triple bottom line growth, Unico is proud to announce the creation of the Unico Community Fund, a sub-fund of Melbourne Community Foundation.

The creation of the fund cements our commitment to our local community by giving the company and its staff the opportunity to help through donations of time, in-kind support and money. The fund brings Unico’s charitable and philanthropic activities under one umbrella, providing focus and a single point of contact.

Unico has provided an initial capital injection to create a base for the fund and a staff giving program has been set up allowing staff to donate via tax-effective salary sacrifice. Just two weeks after the fund’s launch, over 30% of Unico’s staff were contributing to the fund through salary sacrifice. Staff donations and investment returns are distributed to charitable and philanthropic organisations on a quarterly basis.

The fund’s initial focus is in Melbourne and Sydney where Unico is based. The fund’s broad target areas are:

• Social disadvantage
• Environment
• The arts

The fund’s first project is a $5,000 donation plus in-kind support to the Braybrooke-Maidstone Youth Enterprise Hub project run by Melbourne CityMission. You can find more information about the project here.
