Delivery Manager, Project Management Office

Rick joined Unico in 2008 as Delivery Manager with accountability for the Program Management Office and for delivering the Telstra Program of Work.

Prior to Unico Rick worked at Telstra for more than 4 years, starting there as an internal IT client relationship manager for the Networks group in Telstra Operations. Rick was involved in the start up of Telstra’s IT Transformation, had a short stint running the SDF program and later the Telstra IT Transformation PMO functions.

Prior to returning to Telstra in 2003, where he began his career in 1985 when it was Telecom, Rick spent more than 12 years working for Ericsson. Rick worked on many projects ranging from the design and test of the very first ISDN enabled exchanges in the late 80’s, through the first GSM switching systems around 1990, to the first network convergent solutions of the 90’s and 3G deliveries in the 00’s.

It was at Ericsson that Rick developed a passion for process improvement in software development, solution delivery, integration and service delivery. Rick lived and worked in Europe for a total of 6 years during his time with Ericsson, mainly in Sweden, UK and Denmark. In Sweden Rick held the position of Global Business Director for core switching, which generated 4BAUD revenue annually for Ericsson.

Rick grew up in a small country town about 3 hours north-west of Brisbane, and believes that those small town values sit very well with the triple bottom line focus of Unico. He studied Electrical Engineering at USQ in Toowomba, Computer Science at CQU in Rockhampton and moved to Melbourne in 1989. Rick recently added post-graduate qualifications in General Management through AGSM, which was sponsored by Telstra.

Outside work Rick spends as much time as he can with his son Ferris, and the little spare time left gets divided between keeping fit, reading and enjoying good food and wine.
