Managing Director

John joined Unico in 2005, bringing more than 20 years experience in the technology and manufacturing sectors. John’s key responsibility is the successful management of Unico’s rapid growth, working closely with the Executive Team, Board of Directors and staff. In July 2008, John purchased Mike Palmer’s equity in Unico as proof of a seamless succession.

Since the early 90’s, John has held several Chief Executive and General Manager roles, providing leadership to technology and manufacturing companies which include Bytecraft, Phoneware (multiple winner of BRW Top 50 fastest growing company awards) and Moldflow (a global plastics manufacturing firm).

John’s engineering background, with its focus on creation, structured thinking and teamwork is a key asset to him in current and past roles.

Protecting the culture that has underpinned the success of the organisation is high on his agenda; Unico’s cooperative and genial environment promotes a high level of trust, empowering employees to develop creative and innovative solutions and making Unico an employer of choice for talented people.

When not raising his family, John is an avid scuba diver and enjoys Australian wine, food, fitness, surfing and flying light planes.

John holds both a Bachelor and Master of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) from RMIT University, is a Chartered Professional Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers Australia.
